Hello parents and curious students. The theme for this year’s Summer Program has finally been unveiled: Self-Learning AI! A self-learning AI, otherwise known as an unsupervised neural network, is an AI that can teach itself to do a task. For example, an unsupervised AI can teach itself to play an arcade game. The more the AI plays or “trains”, the smarter the AI will become. Eventually, the AI will become unbeatable. As a second example, an unsupervised AI can teach itself the laws of physics. Once an AI learns physics, it can predict the state of a physical system for any given time step. In other words, this AI will be able to see into the future! Wow!! Note that while other “solvers” can also look into the future, an AI can do this task with unprecedented speed.

While the main theme of this year’s Summer Program is the unsupervised neural network, we will also cover supervised neural networks, some applied mathematics, and a bit of data science.
