AI Summer Program FAQ

The Curio Cat AI Summer Program FAQ

Q: What is The Curio Cat?

A: We are an online school and consultancy specializing in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Applied Mathematics. Our primary area of expertise is the cutting-edge field of AI-based computer simulations. Currently, math models are solved using slow traditional methods including FEA, FVM, and CFD. We teach students how to leverage the power of AI to solve these same models up to 100,000 times faster.

Q: Why are you named “The Curio Cat”.

A: We chose this whimsical name to put a playful twist on what is normally a highly rigorous and complex field. The thought of “3D AI-based computer simulations” may be scary to some people. The goal of The Curio Cat is to vanquish this fear of AI by evoking a sense of curiosity and fun.

Q: What is the deliverable from the 6-week AI Summer Program?

A: Because The Curio Cat is a school, the only deliverables are the following: (1) lectures, (2) LaTeX typesetting of your research article, (3) workshops, and (4) any optional 1-on-1 tutoring. No other deliverable is expressed or implied.

Q: How is the 6-week AI Summer Program structured?

A: The AI Summer Program primarily consists of 12 lectures. During the lectures, CurioCat staff will teach students the mathematical foundations of AI based computer simulations. CurioCat staff will also demonstrate how to complete various mini-projects. Students can also opt for 6 hours of 1-on-1 tutoring.

Q: How will your AI Summer Program help me?

A: We teach our students the most cutting-edge techniques in the field of AI-based computer simulations. With this knowledge, students can create their own software product, conduct independent research, gain technical knowledge, and acquire a marketable skill.

Q: Can The Curio Cat help me complete an independent research project?

A: Students wishing to engage in a one-on-one program focused on original research can reach out to hannah@thecuriocat.com for additional information.

Q: Will The Curio Cat help me conduct my experiments?

A: Is your school-issued laptop too slow for research? Not to worry! The Curio Cat will teach you how to conduct your own experiments using powerful cloud-based CPUs and GPUs.

Q: Will The Curio Cat help me write my research article?

A: Students are expected to write their own research articles. However, we will be happy to critique student papers and provide free LaTeX typesetting.

Q: How is The Curio Cat different than other AI summer programs?

A: What distinguishes The Curio Cat from other entities is our focus on teaching. As previously mentioned, The Curio Cat is primarily a school. We teach students valuable, high-level skills in AI and Applied Mathematics. If students choose to do so, they can use their new skills to complete a science fair project, write a research article, or create a software product. CurioCat staff will support students in these endeavors as much as practicable within the scope of the AI Summer Program. However, our main focus is on teaching.

Q: Can I contract with The Curio Cat for corporate and university training?

A: Yes! At The Curio Cat, we are experts in 3D computer simulations utilizing both traditional methods and AI. These simulations have tremendous application in physical sciences, life sciences, engineering, mathematics, and more. Please reach out to hannah@thecuriocat.com for more information.

Q: Does The Curio Cat do research-for-hire?

A: No. The Curio Cat is a school and consultancy. This means we would be happy to provide you and your staff with the necessary training to complete your own research projects.
